Winter 2018-2019 Hibernation
After a particularly unusual and even sometimes distressing summer, winter seemed to have come about like a sledgehammer around the middle of October.
Fifty percent of all study turtles tracked into hibernation moved to a different hibernation site from their original site. Turtle M59 was lost as a result of moving with a failed ransmitter. Turtle M8 died in hibernation during the winter of 2018-2019.

Winter came suddenly on 10/11/18, and the Polar vortex was last week of January.

Most of these sites have soil and air temperature loggers installed and some sites also have iButton temperature loggers attached to the lower scutes of the turtle's carapace.
